Auld Lang Syne: 2016 in Review


I know I don’t usually post on the weekends, but today is a special day: it’s New Year’s Eve. I’m sure you’ve been keeping up with this week’s goal-setting guides, written your resolutions, selected the perfect outfit, and are ready to ring in the new year in style (or at the very least, surrounded by your loved ones), right? Regardless of your plans, it’s a good idea to reflect on the previous year before we can usher in the year ahead.

Let’s be honest. This has been an especially unusual and challenging year for so many people, myself included. I began the year heartbroken and alone, resolved to mix and mingle, formed new relationships, and ended others. Regardless of 2016’s lows, there are plenty of moments worth sharing and celebrating. So, here are a few of my favorites!

Dear Kermit: Nervous in New Hampshire

Dear Kermit,

Midterm grades are coming out soon and, if I’m finally being honest with myself, I haven’t done well at all. In fact, that’s pretty much an understatement. This is my first semester at a very intense school, and the level of work and effort required of us has been really difficult, way harder than my previous school. The issue is my parents have no idea! I haven’t been completely truthful with them about my progress and experience in school, and when they find out…let’s just say it won’t be pretty. Help! What should I do?
