Happy Monday and Happy 2018, friends! I hope you all rang in the new year safely and surrounded by love. I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out what words of wisdom or advice I could share that hasn’t already been said about how we can be more purposeful with each new year, and I can’t help but wonder what you’re hoping for in 2018? Is this another “New Year, New Me” personal promise? Maybe you’ve mapped out your goals for the year and have created a beautiful vision board? Perhaps you realized today is also a supermoon, so you set some serious intentions and followed specific rituals? Did you clean your house? Smudge your space with sage or incense to rid each room of negative energy and make way for positivity? Created a habit tracker in your bullet journal to make sure you reach your goals? Severed ties with people who don’t deserve you? Practiced yoga and meditation for reflection? Ate some greens for prosperity and black-eyed peas for luck? Merry Christmas and happiest holidays to you, friends. It’s been quite some time since my last post, and to say my first quarter of graduate school was a whirlwind is an understatement. When I wasn’t reading nearly 300 pages a week or completing several assignments at a time, I was interning as a school social work intern or working in the admissions office at my graduate school. What little free time I had left was devoted to resting and relaxing and not much else. It doesn’t mean I didn’t think about you or have anything to say. On the contrary. This year, I leave 2017 with more wisdom and self-awareness than I thought possible. My only regret is leaving this realization to the very end–I mean, this is literally the last Monday of 2017. Happy Motivational Monday, friends! I hope you all ushered in the new year with your loving friends and family. I honestly still can’t believe it’s 2017. That just sounds unbelievable to say, and perhaps it’s the unbelievable, the magical, the mystery that makes this year feel so…special. Or maybe it’s all the intentional goal-setting I’ve been doing. Who knows. The point is, however, that regardless of the negativity occurring all around the world, this year feels like it’s going to be my best one yet, and I hope you feel it too. Now, I should say I’m not like the usual folks who set resolutions, feel super excited about it for a few days, and then let it all fall to the waist side. No, wait. That’s exactly who I am, and I’m downright tired of it! One of the things I’ve always been super good at is not following through. In fact, I think I wrote about that a few months ago. This lack of following through has to do with a lack of patience, but there are 365 days in a year–what’s the hurry? We oftentimes overwhelm ourselves with unrealistic expectations and resolutions for the new year and want to rush through it all. It’s no wonder we don’t achieve our goals, so let’s do it right this time, okay?
Happiest final 2016 Friday, friends! A little more than a week ago, I was scrolling through my Instagram feed (surprise, surprise), when I stumbled upon an image of a planner. Now, if you know me well, you know I adore stationary and planners. I already had two planners for 2017, so there really wasn’t a need for another one…except this planner was different. It wasn’t the usual daily or weekly planner for which I typically reach. Instead, it was a goal-setting planner. To be quite honest, I wasn’t aware anything like that existed. Sure, I’d seen post after post and article after article on ways you should set goals, but nothing so detailed, specific, and unconventional as Lara Casey’s Make it Happen 2017 Powersheets: The Intentional Goal Planner. Intrigued, I went to Casey’s shop, ordered her Powersheets (the full year one is currently sold out), Make it Happen: Surrender Your Fear, Take the Leap, Live on Purpose book (2014), and Thirty-One Days of Prayer for the Dreamer and the Doer (2014). All three goodies arrived within a few days, and I couldn’t wait to dive in and review the first two texts!
Happy Rosh Hashanah, friends! It’s been a heck of a long hiatus, but we are officially back and the timing couldn’t be better. This year’s Rosh Hashanah began last night and perfectly coincides with Kermit Says’ return. For those of you who don’t celebrate the Jewish holiday, Rosh Hashanah is the start of the Jewish New Year, and as someone who firmly believes new years, falls, and Mondays, in particular, bring about change, fresh starts, and new beginnings, this seems like a great time for Kermit Says… to start again, fresh, anew.
2014 has been a wonderful year! I traveled to many domestic and international locations, made new friends and reconnected with old ones, made tough life decisions for the sake of my present and future happiness, and discovered my dream and began making serious steps toward turning it into a reality!
Needless to say, this year has been unbelievable. While there were tests and trials, it did inspire me to share a few words of encouragement to help you to and through 2015:
